Current conditions

In the second half of the week, there will be a change in the weather. We will be on the edge of our strengthening high-pressure system, which is now shifting its center towards northeastern Europe. Simultaneously, a small-scale cold air drop (upper-level low) is separating over Western Europe, which will subsequently lead to the formation of a low-pressure area. While this doesn’t mean a major weather change is coming our way, the overall weather character will become more changeable, and the weather development will be quite uncertain with this combination of high-pressure edge and cold air drop. Moreover, we should find ourselves in a stronger southerly flow between the high and low-pressure systems, which will cause a southerly föhn wind north of the main Alpine ridge and potentially trigger a slightly precipitation-prone southerly orographic lift on the main Alpine ridge itself. In summary, this is a complex situation that has the potential to completely overturn the weather forecast every day anew.
„As a meteorologist in the region, I am not only very familiar with the small-scale meteorological particuliarities that distinguish the Arlberg region from other regions, but also with the demands that locals and guests place on a regional weather report.“

Sunshine skiing or powder snow fun?

The weather in the mountains can change from one moment to the next. There might only be a few minutes between blue skies and snowfall. Especially in Lech Zürs am Arlberg, where the Lechquellen range, the Lechtal and the Allgäu Alps, and the Verwall range meet. Our aim is to provide you with the most reliable weather forecast. That’s why we put our trust in meteorologist Thomas Pichler, who lives and works in the Arlberg region.
